From September 16 to 18, the Caritas-Spes base in Zarichany became a meeting place and spiritual resource for nearly 300 young people from different parishes of the Kyiv-Zhytomyr Diocese.
In this extremely difficult time, young people need even more support, spiritual growth and a place to be filled with the Holy Spirit, accompanied by the bishops of our diocese, priests and nuns.
The Youth Days began with the Crown Prayer to the Divine Mercy, the Way of the Cross and the Holy Mass, led by Bishop Oleksandr Yazlovetsky.
Saturday was eventful and filled with various activities.
The centerpiece was the Holy Mass, led by Bishop Vitaliy Kryvytskyy. During the sermon, the bishop reflected with the youth on the concept of nobility and its embodiment in our everyday life, which can be embodied even in quietly closing the door.
One of the interesting guests invited to proclaim the conference was Fr. Vadym Dorosh, a military chaplain who shared his experience.
There was time for conference, group work, socializing, meeting interesting people in the traditional “visiting DDM” section, and prayer.
After a delicious dinner, which was cooked for all the participants in a 100-liter cauldron, there was an informal meeting with Bishop Vitaliy. It was an opportunity to ask the bishop questions, to hear his opinion, to have the opportunity to spend this evening with a man who, even in his episcopal ministry, does not forget about being for and with young people.
The evening and night of the second day were different from all the others. It was a night of vigil and prayer, a prayer watch in unity with those who now protect our peace, protect us from enemy missiles. And as Fr. Serhiy Voroniuk noted, our soldiers are proud of those young people who were able and willing to devote their night time to prayer.
The rainy Sunday morning began with prayer and a conference by Fr.
In a very accessible way, Father Serhiy told us that we can be in the position of a slave who fears God. Or a hired hand, or the position of a daughter or son who responds to God’s love and wants to love God.
The conference by psychologist Lyubov Mykhailyuk also enriched the day.
The conclusion and culmination of the Sunday afternoon was the Holy Mass, led by Fr. Michal Woczal, chairman of the Youth Commission, and preached by Fr. Waldemar, who has been the organizer and engine of the Diocesan Youth Days for many years.
You can do small things, but do them with great love.
The Diocesan Youth Day is over. Everyone went home to their homes and parishes. Tomorrow, some will return to school, some to work, but the memory of these days will remain in our hearts for a long time, and there is hope that the next Diocesan Youth Day will be held in a liberated and peaceful Ukraine.
